# Collateral position

The collateral token for lUSD is ether (ETH) the native token of the ethereum chain. To open a collateral position you need ETH. Collateral position owners can mint tokens and receive a 1.5% stability reward. This reward is deducted from the tokens needed to close the collateral position.
